Strength and Conditioning

Coffs Harbour has a proud history of producing professional athletes. From NRL players, Super rugby and Aussie 7’s players, Test cricketers, professional golfers, WCT surfers and World Champion Longboarders. As sports have become more professional and the money involved has grown the demand of those sports has increased. It is now commonplace for professional athletes and sports team to have strength and conditioning coaches. To give themselves the best chance at becoming professional, or to simply perform better socially, more and more amateur athletes are turning to strength and conditioning coaches.

Hugh is the highest qualified and most experienced strength and conditioning coach in Coffs Harbour. He has a Masters of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) from Edith Cowan and holds an Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Level 2 Accreditation. He has also completed all three phases of the EXOS Mentorship, the world’s leading private strength and conditioning course. Hugh has practical experience as the Head of High Performance for Northern Suburbs rugby club in the Shute Shield and UNSW Cricket Club in Sydney grade cricket. In these roles he worked with Super Rugby and Australian and Fiji Sevens players, as well as cricketers who played Sheffield Shield and represented Australia in One Day Internationals.

Hugh also has played sports at a high level, and understands the importance of a good strength and conditioning program as an athlete. He was selected in the Australian Universities cricket team and represented Australia at a World University Games cricket championship in Sri Lanka. He also played rugby for Warringah in the Shute Shield, playing both with and against numerous Super rugby players and Wallabies. This exposure to elite athletes taught him the value of strength and conditioning and helped shape his desire to work as a strength and conditioning coach.
