Cardiac Rehab
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death worldwide and it affects approximately 4.2 million Australians. There is a wide variety of cardiovascular disease including high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, coronary heart disease, angina and heart attack. Exercise plays a very important role in the management and treatment of a wide variety of cardiovascular conditions.
Hugh has experience treating clients with a variety of cardiac conditions. He previously spent 2 years consulting as an exercise physiologist at one of Sydney’s leading GP clinics and saw a range of clients experiencing a wide range of cardiovascular diseases. The cardiovascular conditions he treated included hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia, rehab after having stents implanted and post heart attack. He saw first-hand the life changing benefits that appropriate exercise programming can have on the lives of people suffering from cardiovascular conditions.
One of the great benefits of exercise physiology in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases is the positive impact exercise can have on multiple conditions. It is not uncommon for people suffering from poor cardiac health to have more than one health issue. For example, many people suffer from both hypertension and high cholesterol. People with both these conditions will often require two different medications. Exercise has the benefit of being able to positively effect both conditions!
