Over 50’s Exercise Classes – Bone building and muscle strengthening

Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease in the world, affecting 1 in 5 men, and 1 in 3 women over the age of 50. It is characterized by weakened bones, significantly increasing the fracture risk. Whilst medication and a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D are commonly prescribed, specific exercises are also an important adjunct to management, and these can be delivered safely under supervision of one of our accredited Exercise Physiologists.

Which type of exercise?

Exercise Physiology plays a crucial role in promoting bone health and minimising the risk of fractures, and hence  lowering the risk of falls and fractures. Weight-bearing and resistance training exercises such as weightlifting naturally stimulates bone growth and density, triggering the body to build and maintain stronger skeletal structures. Additionally, flexibility and mobility exercises can enhance coordination and balance,
